Please forgive me for taking such a long break since my last post on February 25.

Here’s wishing y’all a pleasant Sunday from Howdygram headquarters! It’s a peachy-keen spring day here in north Texas with temperatures in the mid-60s and a shitload of sunshine. Sam just got home from a trip to Wal-Mart and I’m parked in the study with a banana. It’s a perfect day. The only thing that could make it better is a nice long nap and a William Powell movie. (Note to self: Schedule a nice long nap and a William Powell movie.)

Incidentally, please forgive me for taking such a long break since my last post on February 25. I started and stopped several posts since then but never manged to finish any of them. I don’t know why. Maybe I was just too caught up creating exciting new designs for The Howdygram Store (details follow) and juggling a variety of other distracting issues, including, in no particular order whatsoever: 1) a visit from Elite Mobile Dental to take an impression for my lower denture (my first fitting is tomorrow morning); 2) adjusting to my first pair of new eyeglasses in more than six years; 3) another intense urinary tract infection; 4) ordering a MacBook Pro laptop so I can work on Howdygram posts when I’m not at my desk in the study; 5) in-home appointments with my “mobile” podiatrist and my Baylor HouseCalls nurse practitioner; and 6) a precious visit from my sister and her two daughters, who flew in from Chicago just to hang out with me in the family room; and 7) we ran out of tartar sauce.
Regarding those new designs for The Howdygram Store, here are three of my new mug designs and four new greeting cards!

Something yooge happened here last week. (Please see item 6 in the second paragraph of this post.)

My sister, Robin, and her daughters Melissa and Allison were here for a visit from Chicago. I hadn’t seen them in 14 years! Our activities included all of the following:

HUGGING AND KISSING. This lasted maybe three minutes but I enjoyed it immensely.

ORDERING LUNCH FROM KING CHINA AND OTHER FOOD NEWS. Lunch included large tubs of Egg Foo Young and Chicken with Cashew Nut (no kidding ... that’s how it’s listed in the menu), Hot & Sour Soup for Sam and lots of napkins. For dinner we carried in from Chipotle and Chili’s.

OLD PICTURES AND ENTERTAINMENT. Robin brought along a small assortment of family photos salvaged from the lifetime of treasures that my mother threw away. Among them were my original 8" x 10" senior picture from high school and a cute shot of Robin and me sitting on a neighbor’s front doorstep in 1961. I was 10 years old at the time. (I’ll post a few photos in the Howdygram after I’ve had a chance to scan them.) Afterwards we watched my nieces’ wedding DVDs (Melissa was married in 2006 and Allison in 2009) and the Oscars. The DVDs were far more entertaining. Trust me.

I really don’t need to waste time describing the following FREE FONTS … it’s the usual assortment of scripts and hand-lettering and some wonderful dingbats fonts — “Cyclopia” (cyclops cartoons) and “Fairy Tales.” Also a couple of very cool monogram fonts. I’ll include download links after the graphic in case you want to add any of these to your personal collection. You might also consider giving free fonts for Mother’s Day (especially if you’re broke and your mother doesn’t need another bathrobe).

I snagged a free collection of beautiful gold foil textures — seamless! — and thought I’d share them with you. I’ll be glad to send you the entire file if you want them … just shoot me an email.

That’s all for now. I want to publish this post before I get sidetracked! Thank you for stopping by and thank you, as always, for reading this.
