I wish I could do a back flip.

It’s really happening! I’m finally registered with Baylor Hospital’s “Housecalls” program ... visiting M.D.s and nurse practitioners who see you at home because you’re too fucking miserable to show up for a regular office visit like normal people. In my case, I’ve got a first appointment with a nurse practitioner confirmed for Monday. I wish I could do a back flip.

Because I assume my appointment on Monday will include typical first-visit “intake,” I’ve printed out my prescription medications and I’m working on a list of my ongoing medical issues issues and physical complaints, including: 1) bleeding blisters on the heel of my left foot; 2) severe diabetic neuropathy in my left heel, thighs and several toes; 3) osteoarthritis in my hands and both knees; 4) recurring and frequent urinary tract infections with a persistent fever and uncontrollable pishing; and 5) burning skin on the back of both thighs. There are times that I cry just trying to walk from room to room. (Yup, it’s really that bad. Ask Sam.)

Before I post some new free fonts and show off a bunch of nice clipart graphics and background patterns I’d like to shout out a big HOLY SHIT to any Howdygram readers in the path of Hurricane Irma, which is currently a category 5 liberal hoax. Please take cover and do your best to stay safe ... but remember to bring your iPad so you can read the Howdygram!

Check ‘em out! I’ve got a terrific stack of FREE FONTS for you this morning … fabulous scripts and hand-lettered whatnots for all of your creative projects. Myself, I design original greeting cards (and other products) for The Howdygram Store. I’ll include download links below the graphic in case you want any of these fonts for your personal collection.

I also snagged a bunch of new free background patterns and some decidedly weird clipart: DEER ANTLERS? BARNYARD ANIMALS? Meh! But I’ll be glad to share if you want any of these files. Please shoot me an email and let me know, okay? (Be sure to mention my September 9 Howdygram post.)

I’d also like to announce an exciting new angle to Sam’s retirement … he just nailed a coveted part-time job ushering at The Meyerson, home of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra! It only involves 12 to 20 hours a week but Sam will have an opportunity to see and hear some world-class music and guest artists. And he’ll even have his own tuxedo!
This is too perfect! I’m glad that Sam will have a chance to get out of the house and do something interesting and enjoyable, because he spends nearly all of his time right now as a full-time caregiver. Everybody needs a break! The Meyerson’s fall schedule includes Mahler’s Fifth, Beethoven’s Emperor Concerto, Hilary Hahn performing the Dvořák Violin Concerto, the Dallas Symphony Choir’s 40th Anniversary Performance, Ravel’s Piano Concerto for the Left Hand, Prokofiev’s Peter and the Wolf, the DSO Christmas Pops Concert, Handel’s Messiah, the Preservation Hall Jazz Band and the Opus 100 Organ Series with Michel Bouvard. Plus a few other events sprinkled in-between. Sam gets to see every performance for free … and he even GETS PAID!

I need a break now involving food, some drugs and a nice afternoon nap. Thank you for reading this and please drop me a note sometime.
