The Howdygram’s official Clots “R” Us Do-It-Yourself Blood Clot Clinic is open for business.

Good Thursday morning, boys and girls! It’s 6 a.m., Sam just left for work and I have nothing special planned for the rest of the day except for: 1) writing this post; 2) injecting insulin and taking piles of pills; 3) working on new designs for coffee mugs and can coolers for The Howdygram Store; 4) hunting for free fonts; and 5) testing my INR (blood clotting speed) with a finger-stabby thing and emailing the results to Dr. M.

And I think I’ll tackle that last item first. The Howdygram’s official Clots “R” Us Do-It-Yourself Blood Clot Clinic is open for business! The actual blood test involves a Coagu-Chek XS meter, a large test strip, an intense finger-stabby thing — i.e., a “lancet” — plus a small alcohol swab, your finger of choice and a gigantic wad of blood.
Having just completed the aforementioned test I’m pleased to report that today’s result was 2.0, which is at the low end of the safe range ... but still a safe number. (It’s nice to feel normal once in a while.) I emailed my test result to Dr. M.

To celebrate my pleasant blood clotting speed I would like to share the following EXCELLENT FREE FONTS from BeFonts.com with you today. These include three hand-drawn scripts and a wonderful slab-serif — “Taluhla” — that comes in three weights with a bunch of nice frames and borders. Download links will appear after the graphic in case you want any of these for your own collection. L’chaim, y’all.

I would also like to show off some interesting new digital backgrounds that I downloaded free from BeFonts’ sister site, BeGFX.com. The retro patterns in the top row and all the patterns in the second row are “seamless,” so a person can tile them in any direction to make a finished pattern that’s as big as a house. Oy, this is WONDERFUL.
I also downloaded several collections of flowers and cute cartoon animals that I can use for greeting card designs for The Howdygram Store. (The animals will be great for lunch boxes, too.)

At the moment I’m feeling lightheaded, strange, dopey, zoned-out and weird. My morning meds are definitely FANTASTIC but I’d better lie down for a while before I slide off my chair. I’ll try to come back later to write a second post today but I’m not promising anything. Thank you.
